EXTENDED EDUCATION
Before & After School Program
Before School Program
Children are dropped off and checked in any time after 7:00 AM in the classroom located in the back of the school just as you enter the school drop off area. To get behind the school you turn off of Western Ave between the Grange and the Tucker free library. From 7:50 AM to 8:00 AM, just prior to school beginning, White Birch Extended Education staff dismiss older children to their designated classrooms and escort Kindergarten and 1st graders to their classrooms.
After School Program
At 2:35 PM when children are released from classes, White Birch after school children walk to the Extended Education Program classroom at Henniker Community School. Younger children are escorted to the classroom by their teachers and older children go right from class to the classroom on their own. If a child is not accounted for, White Birch Extended Education staff call the HCS Office to determine the dismissal plan for that child. When all children are accounted for, After School Programming begins. Programming ends at 5:30 PM but children can be picked up any time after 2:35 PM. To pick up your child, arrive at the after school classroom and sign them out. The after school classroom is located in the back of the school just as you enter the school drop off area. To get behind the school you turn off of Western Ave between the Grange and the Tucker free library.
*Any changes in dismissal for Extended Education children needs to be relayed to the WBC staff prior to the beginning of programming, this include extracurricular activities and sports practices.*

Erin Calvert
Program Coordinator
About Erin
Erin’s favorite thing about working with children is how she can learn new things from each age group and how each age can offer a different set of obstacles and challenges.
If Erin isn’t in the classroom, you can find her spending time with her husband and dog, going outside just to enjoy the sunshine, or tackling some of the seemingly never-ending outdoor projects around her family’s house. We’re so lucky to have such a great addition to our WBC staff. If you see Miss Erin around the center don’t hesitate to say hello!

She currently attends NHTI for Health Sciences and has begun taking classes in Early Childhood Education. She enjoys thrifting and anything that involves water. Her favorite thing about working with children is their unique perspectives on life.
Taylor Pike
Group Leader
Taylor joined White Birch Center during the Summer Extended Education Program in June 2023. She currently lives in Henniker, N.H. with her boyfriend and grew up in Weare, N.H. When Taylor is not at White Birch, she loves spending time outdoors, going on walks, playing lacrosse, swimming, and fishing. She also believes there is value in practicing mindfulness and movement breaks, and tries to integrate these concepts throughout her day. After graduating in 2021 from Colby Sawyer College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and Public Health, Taylor worked for 2 years as a Special Education Paraprofessional. She is excited and thankful for the opportunity to be working close to home in addition to working with the lovely staff and families of White Birch Center. About Taylor

Group Leader
About Ashleigh
Ashleigh lives in Derry, NH with her parents, Erin and Chris, and younger sisters, Caitlyn and Leigha. Since January 2023, she has been working at the White Birch Center in our Extended Education Program as a group leader. Alongside her work, Ashleigh is a student at New England College, where she is pursuing a degree in elementary education with the goal of becoming a second-grade teacher.
Outside of her responsibilities at White Birch and her academic pursuits, Ashleigh enjoys playing softball, reading by the pool during the summer months, and spending quality time with her friends and family. One of her favorite aspects of working with children is the variety of challenges and experiences she encounters each day, making her work consistently fun and interesting.
Susan Woods
Group Leader
About Susan
Susan is a native Floridian, and moved to New Hampshire 4 years ago. After graduating from Florida State University with a Music Education degree, she and her husband Randy moved to central Florida where she taught music.
She has four children whom she home-schooled for most of their education. They are now grown and have their own families. She feels lucky to have grandchildren which to her is one of the greatest blessings in life. Susan also volunteers at His Mansion in Deering, N.H. and serves as a worship leader at Christ Community Church in Weare, N.H.
She is grateful to be part of WBC’s Before and After School Program. It has given her the opportunity to love and serve the children of Henniker, and they in return have become like grandchildren since hers are so far away.
Laura Jacques

Laura joined our Extended Education Program in November 2023 as a Group Leader, and we are thrilled to welcome her to our team! Currently a student at New England College, she resides on campus and grew up in Manchester, NH. In 2021, Laura began her role as a substitute teacher for Kindergarten through 8th grade at the local Henniker Community School, where she discovered a genuine interest and zeal for early education. She loves the contagious excitement and imaginative perspective each child brings to their day, and believes supporting their growth and development is a privilege. When Laura isn’t studying or working at White Birch Center, she spends her time learning, playing, and coaching volleyball for a local 14U team. She hopes to help contribute to our EEP by introducing volleyball-themed and other sport-based activities into our curriculum.About Laura
