Frequently Asked Questions

Who can come to the Youth Hub? And how much does it cost?

The Youth Hub is primarily for students in grades 5-8, although there are additional opportunities for high school students. It’s 100% free. A parent or guardian needs to fill out a membership packet prior to their child’s arrival. Links are included below, or you can stop by to pick one up!

What do I need to do before coming?

Before attending, you’ll need to have your parent or guardian fill out and sign two forms:

These can be done digitally, or you can come to the Cornerstone Building to fill them out. That’s it!

How do I get to the Youth Hub?

The Youth Hub is located at White Birch Center’s Cornerstone Building, 116 Main Street in Henniker. The program is offered every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30–6:00 pm, and youth are welcome to arrive and leave at any point during those hours based on their family’s schedule and needs. Students may walk from school, ride their bike, drive if age-appropriate, or be dropped off in the main parking lot of the Cornerstone Building.

Families should note that youth are responsible for getting to and from the center safely and independently. White Birch Center staff are not responsible for transportation, arrival, or departure supervision. Once a youth has signed out and left the building, White Birch Center is no longer responsible for their supervision or safety.

We encourage families to communicate clear expectations directly with their child regarding transportation, pick-up times, and safe travel plans.

What happens there?

The Youth Hub offers recreation, arts, homework support, mentoring, leadership development, wellness activities, and a chance to relax with your friends. There are even snacks and beverages!  Choose from the independent and group activities offered, bring a project you are working on, or just “chill”.

More planned activities are on the horizon as we expand, but for now you can come by to play a game, create a painting, have some homework time, challenge someone to table hockey, learn a new skill, create a book club, plant some flowers, and more.

What should I bring with me?

We’ve got pretty much everything you should need, including snacks, drinks, and activities. You’re welcome to bring other games you’d like to share or crafts you’d like to do. And feel free to bring your homework if you’d like some space to do it and get some help along the way if you need it.

You can also look at our Expectations & Permission Form for more details about what else is allowed (and not allowed) in the Youth Hub space: Cornerstone Youth Hub Expectations and Permission Form – Fill out form

Is the Drop-In center supervised?

Yes, there will always be a trained White Birch Center staff member at the center when it’s open.

Are there outdoor activities available?

There is a small outdoor space available at the Hub for some games and gardening activities. We’re also planning to do some walks and outings around the neighborhood as a group when participants are interested.

How can I help?

All nonprofits and community-based organizations rely on the generosity and support of community members. We are always looking for volunteers to lend a hand, sponsors to provide scholarships to youth, monetary and tangible donations to help maintain our program offerings and especially help in spreading the word about all the positive things the youth in our community are up to!

Who should I reach out to with questions?

Reach out to Family Resource Director, Morgan Ring, at morganr@whitebirchcc.org or Youth Hub Coordinator, Dawn Lavallee, at dawnl@whitebirchcc.org. You can also give us a call at (603) 428-3077.
