Remote Learning Program

Overview

The WBC Extended Education Remote Learning Program is designed to help working families with school age children continue working during the 2020/2021 School Year. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, many working parents are concerned about the unpredictable nature of the school year.

This program is available to families who’s school district is fully remote, a hybrid of in school and remote, or if their school district chooses to go remote at any point throughout the school year.

HERE IS HOW IT WORKS (FOR HCS FAMILIES OR FAMILIES WHO PLAN TO UTILIZE OUR PROGRAMMING ONLY IF THEIR CHILD’S SCHOOL CHOOSES TO GO REMOTE)

FOR HCS FAMILIES

For children K-6, HCS has planned to provide full-day school five days per week.  If there are no interruptions to this plan, this is an ideal situation for working parents as the only worry is before and after school care, if it is needed.

While this is what we all hope for, parents must plan for interruptions. It is very possible that a child’s classroom will be temporarily closed, or the school may drift to a hybrid learning model, or HCS may need to go completely to remote learning. If anything, other than full day schools five days per week, changes, what are parents who must work going to do?

The WBC Extended Education Remote Learning Program can help bring predictability to an unpredictable school year. White Birch is offering full day care and professional remote learning assistance when your child is not attending school. School age care is available by the day or by the week.*

*For families who will ONLY be utilizing this program if their child’s school chooses to go remote during the school year, we require a non-refundable deposit of $225 to enroll your child in this program. This deposit will be applied to your child’s first week’s tuition. This deposit is not required for families utilizing our program for the whole school year.

If your child’s HCS classroom is temporarily CLOSED –

We anticipate that classrooms will temporarily close if a child or teacher in that cohort has any symptoms of Covid-19. Classroom will likely remain closed until the child or teacher with symptoms can be tested to know whether they have Covid-19 or not.

Temporary Closures could last a couple of days to a couple of weeks.

Provided the child needing school age care gets a test for Covid-19 that comes back negative, and the parent passes our screening procedure, that child can participate in full day school age care at White Birch and here is what that includes.

  • Drop Off can take place any time after 7:00 AM

White Birch Center has been operating as an Emergency Child Care Center since June 1, 2020. As an ECCP, we have established thorough policies and procedures that ensure the safety of our families, children, staff and community. We have limited capacity based on rules not allowing more than 20 individuals (children and adults) together in a room. There are also many other changes which you can find below in our Emergency Child Care Parent Handbook. All families attending will be required to review and sign off on several forms that indicate that they understand our policies and procedures.

While we are happy to be providing this Remote Learning Program for our community, we also have had to adjust to new standards for care in the COVID-19 environment and we also need for our parents to adjust their expectations during this pandemic. For example, it is possible that with little notice, the program may need to temporarily close if a child, family member, or staff member has become ill. Procedures such as these will ensure the safety of all involved in our programming.

Our classroom provides:

A safe and nurturing learning environment, friendly teaching staff, a Certified K-8 Teacher, current First Aid / CPR certified teaching staff, DAILY communication between WBC, your child’s school & your family.

Emergency Child Care Parent Handbook

Upcoming Calendar Changes

Use of Fever Reducing Medications

Any fever reducing medications (Tylenol, Motrin, etc.) will not be allowed to be administered during care hours. In addition, if Tylenol or Motrin (or any other medication) is given as a fever reducer, your child will not be permitted to attend childcare. If it is given, it will present an ineffective screening tool and one of the few screening tools we have this is independent of the parent or screener. Please do not provide Tylenol or ibuprofen at least 4 to 6 hours prior to arrival at child care.

Additional Requirements

We ask that your child’s attendance schedule include approximate drop off and pick up times.

    • Ex: Your work day is 8:00am – 4:30pm, so you will be dropping your child off by 7:30am and picking up by 5:00pm (this sample schedule is based on a 30 min commute). This allows us to ensure appropriate staffing in order to effectively uphold our current policies and procedures, which include screening of families prior to being permitted entrance into our facility. *this schedule can change with appropriate notice*

We will need all necessary materials for remote instruction

    • Computer, charger, headphones
    • All links and passwords for remote instruction
    • All necessary school work for remote instruction
