EXTENDED EDUCATION
Overview
The White Birch Center for Extended Education extends care and learning to out of school time. Care is provided before and after school hours and during school breaks. The White Birch Extended Education philosophy is that the care provided in out of school time is essential for establishing and promoting relationships with youth, developing critical social and emotional skills, and learning through play, exploration, inquiry, and hands on activities.

Curriculum
What is emergent curriculum?
Emergent curriculum is built around the interests that emerge from children’s ideas. It is curriculum that develops from exploring what is socially relevant, intellectually engaging, and personally meaningful to children. This types of curriculum connects learning with experience and prior knowledge. It responds to children’s immediate interests and is typically implemented after an idea emerges from a group of children
